Infection Control – Annual Statement
Oswald Road Medical Centre aims to maintain a high standard of cleanliness to offer a safe environment for all staff, patients, and visitors.
If you have any concerns about cleanliness or infection control, please report these to our reception staff.
Our GP’s and Nursing team follow procedures to ensure that treatment of our patients and clinical equipment used meet infection control guidance.
Purpose of this statement – to confirm compliance with all Infection Control guidelines.
Any infection transmission incidents and any action taken will have been recorded within our Significant Event procedures and discussed with the practice team.
Details of any infection control audits/risk assessments and any action taken are discussed within the practice and stored on the shared drive for staff to access as required.
Details of any staff training are stored via the Training portal and Staff folders.
Specific measures taken re any public health alerts are stored on the Shared drive and discussed as a regular item in practice monthly meetings.

Significant Events - In the past year there have been no significant events relating to infection control.
Staff Training - All staff complete an infection control module as part of their online annual general training and undertake yearly hand hygiene assessments. New staff will complete training as part of their induction to the practice.
Audits - Regular audits are carried out and a refurbishment programme is in operation to ensure compliance with all standards.
Policies and Procedures - These are available in the IPC manual purchased every 2 years with the latest updated guidance and policies. All staff can access this manual which is located in the reception area (this is also noted in the IC Policies folder located on the practice shared drive). Staff are advised of location via induction to the practice.
CQC Report 2022 – Oswald Road Medical Centre received a good report following the inspection by the Care quality Commission, it was noted that there are good standards of hygiene and cleanliness, and appropriate measures in place for maintaining these standards. Staff had received effective training on infection prevention and control.
Infection Control Inspection June 2024 – 92.3% Compliance Score; No significant issues identified.
